A patio is the part of the yard you use every day

Because you walk on it, sit on it and entertain on it, the layout matters as much as the material. We start with how you want to use the space, such as dining, lounging, a path to the front door or a link between the house and the pool. Then we choose the pattern, color and edge details to suit it.

Common paver choices include concrete, clay brick and natural stone. We talk through color, texture, how warm each one gets in the sun and what fits your budget, so the finished space looks like it belongs with your home.

Built for South Florida conditions

Practical points we cover with every project, so there are no surprises later.

  • Drainage comes first

Summer downpours are heavy. A patio should slope away from the house, and the base should let water move through instead of pooling, which is a common cause of sinking and staining.

  • Sandy ground needs a solid base

Much of Broward sits on sandy, low-lying ground. A properly compacted, layered base is what keeps pavers level for years.

  • Heat and bare feet

Lighter colors and textured finishes stay more comfortable in direct sun and add grip, especially around pools.

  • Joints, sealing and upkeep

Joint material and sealer choices affect weeds, staining and color over time. We explain what each option means for upkeep.

  • Permits and HOA approval

Rules differ by city and by community. Check with your city and your HOA early, and we can talk through what is usually involved.

  • Planned with the landscape

Edges, planting beds and lighting are easier to get right when they are designed together with the paving.

Questions about paver patios and walkways

Short answers to what people ask first.

What is the difference between a paver patio and a poured concrete patio?

Pavers are individual units set on a compacted base, so a damaged section can usually be lifted and replaced, and they offer many more patterns and colors. Poured concrete is a single slab, which can crack and is harder to repair so it is not noticeable.

Are pavers a good choice for Florida weather?

They can be, when the base and drainage are done properly. The joints let water drain, and individual pavers can be reset if the ground shifts.

Can pavers be used around a pool?

Yes. For pool decks we look at slip resistance, how hot the surface gets in the sun and how water drains away from the pool and the house.

Do I need a permit for a patio or walkway?

It depends on your city, the size and scope of the work and your HOA. Ask your city building department and your HOA before work begins.
